Principal Attorney Email: Manuela@mdpimmigrationlaw.com Phone: 734-479-4200 Immigration Attorney Manuela D. Policicchio has devoted herself to the practice of immigration law. Growing up in an immigrant family, Ms. Policicchio understands the challenges that immigrants face in this country. She is a hard-working, thoughtful and energetic individual who understands the significance of individuals’ immigration concerns and works hard to find legal solutions for her clients.
As a licensed attorney, she has almost ten years of experience handling exclusively immigration related cases. Her experience however began well before her years as a licensed attorney. Throughout her years as an immigration attorney, she has learned that the immigrant community is a highly vulnerable one in that many are undocumented and/or facing traumatic experiences such as family separation, detention, and removal. She has quite a strong reputation for not taking advantage of her clients and instead providing them with honest, concise and straightforward information about their individual cases.
While in law school, Ms. Policicchio worked for Farmworker Legal Services in Bangor, Michigan, where she conducted outreach in agricultural labor camps and closely examined the abuses that migrant farmworkers encountered. Ms. Policicchio also interned for Freedom House in Detroit, Michigan, where she worked with asylum seekers to develop their asylum applications. Upon graduating from law school, Ms. Policicchio worked as an Associate Attorney at KRA Immigration Law Group where she was responsible for handling all aspects of family based immigration cases.
In October 2008, Ms. Policicchio opened MDP Immigration Law, PLLC. Through her hard work and dedication, she has built a successful law firm specializing in family-based immigration law and removal defense. Specifically, in the realm of family-based immigration law, she handles family petitions, adjustment of status in the United States, consular processing abroad, affirmative asylum applications, U visas for victims of crimes, VAWA, citizenship, I-601 waivers of inadmissibility, I-601A provisional unlawful presence waivers, and deferred action. Moreover, she also defends her clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Courts by applying for cancellation of removal for permanent residents, cancellation of removal for nonpermanent residents, defensive asylum and withholding of removal, waivers in court, and adjustment of status.
Ms. Policicchio has successfully litigated many 42A Cancellation of Removal for Lawful Permanent Resident cases, where lawful permanent residents were facing removal due to various criminal issues. Moreover, she has extensive experience representing her undocumented clients in their 42B Cancellation of Removal for Non Lawful Permanent Resident cases. Ms. Policicchio has an excellent approval rate for the I-601 Waivers of Inadmissibly and I-601A Provisional Unlawful Presence Waivers she has filed. Moreover, she is an advocate for young childhood arrivals and represented a large amount of students as they applied for and were granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) status.
Ms. Policicchio also volunteers in the nonprofit sector in Southwest Detroit, where she consults with numerous individuals. While providing these pro bono services, Ms. Policicchio quickly and effectively summarizes her legal opinion and the individualized potential solution. She has the reputation of being very honest, straightforward, and creative.
Ms. Policicchio is not only an immigration attorney, but an advocate for immigrants. She has an enormous amount of enthusiasm for the practice of immigration law and a strong desire to assist her clientele, even when their immigration options may seem limited.
